JUST IN : Negotiations on the 2023 Base Pay Increment Concluded Successfully

The higher the inflation rate, the expensive the Cost Of Living becomes,  and since the inflation rate has risen (now 54.1%) as well as VAT, there is the need for Public Sector workers to negotiate with the government for Salary increment.

Base pay negotiation for the year, 2023 has being difficult to come into terms by the two parties involved (Government and Organized Labour) as it started last year.

Series of meetings were arranged between these parties, but yielded no results because the Organized Labour (Government) were not ready to accept the Public Sector Workers' proposed percentage (60% and later 58%) neither were the Public Sector Workers also ready to accept the Organized Labours' offer (8% and later 18%).

The last meeting that was held on Yesterday, 11th January, 2023 also ended inconclusively as government struggled to reach agreement with the Organized Labours.

Government offered 20% whiles Organized Labour demanding 50%.

The meeting was therefore adjourned to today, January 12, 2023.

After series of negotiations between the government and the Organized Labour, the two parties after a meeting today, January 12, 2023, have finally agreed on 30% increment on the base pay effective January.
