JUST IN: GES Warns Heads of Basic Schools, directs All Regional & District Directors to ensure strict adherence of the OBC and SBC Directives

Management of Ghana Education Service has in a release cautioned heads of Public Basic Schools who are repeating JHS 2 students of the last academic year who are progressing to JHS 3 this academic year.

According to Management of GES in a release that has in hand Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, the Deputy Director-General (Q & A), it takes serious exception to the aforementioned practice.

The rationale behind its exception is due to the fact that current JHS 3 are the last batch of the Objective Based Curriculum (OBC) who will write BECE in 2024 using the Standard-Based Curriculum (SBC).

In respect to the stated reason above, All Last year JHS 2 Students should be be progressed to Junior High School 3 in order not to disadvantage any Objective Based Curriculum students in the BECE.

Management is therefore requesting Regional Directors of Education to bring the above directives to the attention of Metro/Municipal/District Directors of Education for strict compliance by all Heads of Basic Schools.
