JUST IN: Labour Relations Minister breaks silence on Payment of Salary + COLA until talks are concluded Successfully - Read more

Payment of Cost of Living Allowance COLA, since its inception was known not to be paid after December 2022 because the new year, 2023 was to come with its own base pay increment should the negotiations that began last year had concluded successfully.

The delay in the base pay negotiations during last year because of misunderstanding between Government team and representatives of the Public Sector Worker has however left Government’s employees unsure as to whether COLA will be enjoyed until negotiations on the Base Pay increment are concluded or not.

The Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffour-Awuah after the negotiations that was slated for today  January 10, 2023 stated categorically in an interview that, Employees of Government of Ghana will enjoy the 15% Cost Of Living Allowance (COLA) until talks or negotiations on the 2023 base pay increment end successfully.

The meeting today was inconclusive as Government offers 20% whiles Labour unions demand 50%.

The meeting is therefore adjourned to Tomorrow January 11, 2023.
