Teacher Unions Release a Press Statement on the Collective Agreement for Teaching Staff within the Ghana Education Service
The three Teacher Unions namely, Ghana National Association of Teachers GNAT, National Association of Graduate Teachers NAGRAT, and Coalition of Concerned Teachers, Ghana, CCT-Gh, have released a press statement to remind the Chief Executive of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission on the Review of the Collective Agreement for teaching staff within the Ghana Education Service.
According to the Teacher Unions, in Pursuant to Section 41.1 of the Collective Agreement for Teaching Staff within the Ghana Education Service (GES) document which came into effect August, 2020, it stipulates that, “There shall be general reviewing of this Collective Agreement after every three (3) years”
For that reason, they (the three Teacher Unions) We the teacher unions are writing to draw the Chief Executive of FWSC’s attention that the said Collective Agreement documents will run its scheduled three-year (3-year) span in August 2023 and therefore needs to be reviewed.
The leaders of the three Unions, Thomas Musah, King Ali Awudu and Angel Carbonu whose signatures are on the statement concluded by urging the Chief Executive, Fair Wages and Salaries commission to set the necessary machinery in motion so that they meet to undertake the said review, as soon as possible.
