The New Curriculum will have no room for Integrated Science - Education Minister

The Minister of Education, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum has revealed to the general public that teaching of Integrated Science will be a thing of the past.

According to him the new Curriculum for Students in the Senior High School will have no room for Integrated Science.

He explained further by disclosing that, students offering science courses with major in biology, chemistry and physics will no longer study integrated science as one of their course subjects.

The new change is expected to commence by 2024.

The member of Parliament for the constituents of the Bosomtwe who doubles as the Minister of Education reiterated that, engagement with stakeholders in the educational fraternity has already started and ongoing and to see to it that the process becomes successful.

Our transformational efforts on the curriculum are focused on ensuring that we have the Ghanaian child who is competent and able to match up to any of their counterparts anywhere in the world. We needed to review the present school curriculum to respond to the National priority of shifting the structure and content of the education system from merely passing examinations to building character, nurturing values and raising literature, confident and engaged citizens, with emphasis on science and mathematics as building blocks for success in either tertiary education or early entry in the workplace,” the education minister stated.

The Minister disclosed this on Wednesday, 18th January, 2023 during his unannounced visit paid to the staff of Labone Senior High School in Greater Accra.

The visit was part of his regular of schools to get first hand information about issues in the schools.

The visit also aids at interacting with authorities at the various schools and also motivate them to do more.
