GES Bans Unapproved Prospectuses and Unauthorized Sales to Form One Students by Heads of Second Cycle Schools

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has raised concerns over the issuance of unapproved prospectuses and unauthorized sales of items to Form One students by some heads of Second Cycle Schools. The GES has prohibited this practice and demanded that it ceases immediately.

According to reports, some Heads of Second Cycle Schools are issuing unapproved prospectuses to Form One students and then selling some of the items listed on the prospectus, including free items provided by the government. This practice has drawn the attention of the GES, which considers it unacceptable and a breach of regulations.

The GES management has issued a stern warning to Heads of Second Cycle Schools, urging them to adhere strictly to the approved harmonized prospectus for students. Any Head of School found demanding any item(s) aside from the approved ones will face a severe sanction.

To prevent conflicts of interest on the part of school authorities, parents and guardians are advised to buy approved items on the prospectus from the open market rather than from schools. This move will ensure transparency and accountabilitye in the issuance and distribution of school items.

The GES has assured the public that investigations will be conducted into this matter to ensure that the right measures are taken. The management of Second Cycle Schools are therefore urged to comply with the regulations to avoid any legal repercussions.

In conclusion, the GES is committed to providing quality education to Ghanaian students and ensuring that they receive the best possible support from schools. It is, therefore, imperative that all stakeholders abide by the rules and regulations governing the education sector to guarantee a smooth and efficient system.
