Headmaster queries teacher for failing to Protect School Property during Fire Outbreak
The headmaster of Nkawie Senior High School (Technical) in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Francis P. Yata, has queried one of his teaching staff for sitting aloof during an outbreak of fire which resulted in destroying some school Property.
On Wednesday. 1st February there was an outbreak of fire at the new site of Nkawie Senior High School & Technical.
According to the query letter, the queried teacher (Name withheld) was the only teaching staff present at the site during the fire outbreak.
The genesis of the query according to the headmaster is that, the teacher in question showed virtually no concern with regard to preventing the fire from burning some school property and that even when some management members and some officers of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) came to the scene to fight the outbreak, he (the teacher) continued to sit aloof.
For this reason, management of the school wishes to write on the teacher’s file that, as officer of state, he has no interest in protecting state property.
In the interest of fair hearing, the teacher has been given ten (10) working days to justify why such documents should not be put on his file.
“In the interest of fair hearing, management wishes that you write to justify why such a document should not put on your file. Please, note that after ten (10) working days if you fail to give any convincing evidence, management shall forward your name to the Board of Governors of the school for appropriate sanctions” - The headmaster stated.
