On the 6th of December 2022, GNAT reposted some District Secretaries, which resulted in a legal action taken by twelve District Secretaries. They filed a lawsuit against GNAT at the High Court, Industrial and Labour Division, Accra, seeking a declaration that the reposting made by the General Secretary was null and void and of no effect since they violate the Constitution of GNAT among other three reliefs.
As the legal battle ensued, the District Secretaries obtained an interim injunction order from the Court on the 30th of January 2023, restraining GNAT from effecting the reposting. The order was to last for ten (10) days. Later, on the 8th of February 2023, they applied to the Court for an order restraining GNAT from effecting the reposting until the final determination of the case.
Update on the recent developments concerning the reposting of some District Secretaries by the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT)
You are to note that on Tuesday, 28th March, 2023, the Court refused to grant the order being sought by the District Secretaries to stop/restrain GNAT from reposting them. This means that they are to proceed to their reposted (new) stations.
