The Ghana Education Service (GES) has taken a major step towards promoting a safe and inclusive school environment with the launch of the Safe School Logo Competition and Annual Awards Ceremony. The event, which took place on Thursday, April 20th, 2023 in Accra, was under the theme, "Harnessing our collective effort to promote a safe, protective, and inclusive school environment."
During the ceremony, Ofori Enoch Jibril from Fomena T.I Ahmadiyya Senior High School emerged as the winner of the Safe School Logo Competition. This competition was aimed at encouraging creativity and innovation among students, and it is a testament to the commitment of GES towards promoting a culture of safety and inclusivity in Ghana's schools.
The Safe School Logo Competition is just one of the initiatives that GES has taken to ensure that all forms of abuse, harassment, violence, and bullying are eradicated from schools across the country. The annual awards ceremony is another such initiative, aimed at recognizing and rewarding schools and individuals that demonstrate a high commitment to child protection activities in and around schools.
The launch of the Safe School Logo and annual awards ceremony was attended by various development partners, GES staff, teachers, and students from across the country. It is heartening to see such a broad-based commitment towards creating safe and inclusive schools in Ghana.
GES is grateful to UNICEF, T-TEL, GACA, ActionAid, and Adwensa Publications for their significant contributions towards this noble cause. These organizations have played a key role in supporting GES in its efforts to promote a culture of safety and inclusivity in Ghana's schools.
