In a letter dated 26th April 2023, the GES indicated that it strongly condemns such practices and reaffirms its commitment to the credibility of assessment in the promotion of teachers. The GES emphasized that teachers can only be promoted after they sit and pass their examination, which is organized by the Service. Therefore, any payment made to individuals or groups claiming to be able to influence promotion results should not be entertained.

It is important to note that fraudulent activities in the education sector have the potential to erode the public trust and undermine the integrity of the system. Therefore, it is commendable that the GES has taken this step to warn teachers and the general public about this scam.

The GES should also take measures to investigate and prosecute those involved in perpetrating this fraudulent activity. Additionally, the Service should put in place systems to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. For instance, the GES could implement a system that enables teachers to report any suspicious activity related to promotion or other matters directly to the Service.
