A cloud of frustration looms over the teaching community as Teacher Unions come forward to voice their discontent regarding the prolonged delay in the release of the March 2023 promotion results by the Ghana Education Service (GES). The Teacher Unions, comprising the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and the Concerned Teachers Group (CCT-GH), have jointly penned a letter to highlight their dismay and displeasure regarding this issue.
The March 2023 promotion examination, which was conducted earlier this year, has yet to yield its results, sparking concerns among the teaching fraternity. As per the established agreement between the Teacher Unions and the GES, two promotion exams were intended to be held annually – in March and August – to facilitate career growth opportunities for teachers.
The delay in releasing the March 2023 promotion results has stirred frustration among teachers, who have been keenly awaiting the outcomes. Moreover, this delay has aggravated the existing backlog of promotions that educators were hoping to address, consequently intensifying the challenges faced by teachers.
One of the fundamental purposes of these promotion examinations is to encourage career advancement and professional growth within the teaching sector. However, the ongoing delay in releasing the results has undermined the very essence of these exams, as the aspirations of teachers remain unfulfilled.
