WAEC Cautions the Public Against Circulation of Purported “WAEC-Confirmed Examination Topics” on Social Media

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) issued a stern warning to the public, cautioning against the circulation of alleged WAEC-confirmed examination topics on various social media platforms. In a press briefing held on August 2, 2023, the council clarified that no examination topics have been officially confirmed by them, and they have not authorized the release of any verified topics by any group or organization.

Addressing the matter, a representative from WAEC emphasized, "The attention of the Council has been drawn to the circulation of some purported 'WAEC Confirmed Topics' on social media. It is important for the general public to note that the Council has not confirmed any topics, nor has it sanctioned any confirmed topics from or for any group or organization."

WAEC also urged the public to exercise caution and refrain from engaging with any groups or websites that promote the dissemination of these alleged confirmed topics. They emphasized that these topics are not endorsed or verified by the Council.

"The public is advised not to log on to or join any such groups or site that promotes the circulation of these 'WAEC Confirmed Topics'. They should also avoid entering their mobile phone numbers on such websites," WAEC added, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding personal information.

In light of this warning, candidates and stakeholders are encouraged to rely solely on official sources for updates regarding examination topics and related information. The council assured the public that any legitimate and authorized announcements would be made through their official channels.

WAEC remains committed to ensuring the integrity and fairness of its examinations and appeals to the public to report any suspicious activities related to examination malpractice. Together, by upholding the principles of honesty and credibility, we can safeguard the future of our education system and the prospects of our students.
