40-year-old Teacher Arrested for Allegedly Forging Promotion Documents

An Accra Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of a 40-year-old teacher, Atta Boadi Senior, who is accused of forging documents to secure a promotion. Boadi, who is a Senior Superintendent II at the Subrisu District Assembly Primary School in the Eastern region, faces charges of forging official documents and tampering with counterfeit documents.

The prosecution alleges that Boadi submitted a forged letter to the Ghana Education Service (GES) Headquarters on July 31, 2023, stating that he had been promoted to the rank of Assistant Director II. The letter was received by Mr. Alex Dankwa, a GES official, who upon careful examination, determined that it was a forgery.

On August 1, 2023, Boadi visited the GES Headquarters to inquire about his promotion. When questioned about the authenticity of the letter, he fled the scene. He was later apprehended by the police and the forged letter was confiscated.

The prosecution further revealed that GES had compiled a list of eligible teachers for promotion, subjected them to an examination, and those who passed were formally promoted and notified in writing. However, Boadi was not on the list of eligible teachers and had not followed the proper procedures for advancement.

Boadi is scheduled to appear in court on September 18, 2023, before Mr. Isaac Oheneba-Kuffour.
