University of Ghana to Dismiss Level 200 and 300 Students with CGPA Below 1.0

University of Ghana's Regulations on Academic Progression and Withdrawal: Important Updates for Students

In an effort to uphold academic standards and ensure that students are progressing in their studies, the University of Ghana has released important regulations regarding the progression and withdrawal process. These regulations apply to undergraduate students in specific colleges, namely the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, the College of Education, and the College of Humanities.

The Regulations at a Glance:

According to Section 9.26 of the University Regulations for Junior Members (2017), undergraduate students who have completed their registered courses for an academic year must meet a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) for progression to the next level of study. The minimum CGPA required for progression for students in the aforementioned colleges is currently set at 1.00.

Review Your Academic Performance:

In light of these regulations, the university is advising current level 200 and level 300 students to review their academic performance. This can be done by accessing their online provisional transcript on the MISWeb platform. It is crucial for students to assess whether their CGPA meets or exceeds the minimum requirement for their respective college.

Official Communication:

Students who have completed their 2022/2023 registered courses and have obtained a CGPA below the approved minimum for their college should anticipate receiving official withdrawal letters from the University. These communications will be sent to students via their Official UG email addresses.

Tuition Fees Refund Process:

For those students who have already remitted their tuition fees for the upcoming 2023/2024 academic year, rest assured that a refund process will be in place upon request.

Seek Support and Clarification:

The University understands the importance and impact of these regulations on students and their academic journeys. Therefore, an invitation is extended to any student who may have questions or require support to contact the relevant College Academic Affairs Office. It is vital for students to seek guidance and clarification on their specific situations.

These regulations are designed to maintain the academic excellence and standards of the University of Ghana. While they may present challenges for some students, the university is committed to providing support and assistance where needed. Your understanding and cooperation in this matter are greatly appreciated.

Please stay tuned for a separate notice regarding the College of Health Sciences, which will be issued in due course.

Sincerely
L. A. Nyako-Danquah (Mrs.)
Director, Academic Affairs Directorate
